I'm one that loves to be on Pinterest and when I see a hairstyle first thought is "omg I loveeeee" but the stylist in me says well it will take x amount of time x amount of sessions. So almost every time a client sits in my chair my first question is so what are wanting to do today? First thing my client will do is take her phone and show me a pic on Pinterest or instagram. So want to know what my first thought is 😳🤔 if it's unrealistic like platinum or a super heavy balayage I always think okay can it be done in one day maybe if there are no other factors like colors with a lot of ammonia in it box colors or really damaged hair but if the client is willing to do the time and willing to pay the price we can try our best to attempt it. It could take 6-8 hours to go from dark to a heavy balayage. I as a stylist never recommend it and never go that route...my reasons why is taking to long can be draining on the client the wallet the stylist and the hair is it worth going from one color to an extreme color just because you just want to have it right away. My thought is slow and steady wins the race...why you ask ? Because if you do two sessions of Balayage one you get way lighter on your second session and your hair didn't go through a lot just to to be blonde fast. I try my best to educate my clients on what's best for them and their hair but really they don't listen all they are thinking is I want that hair I want that hair and I loose clients because of that because they want someone to give them blonde one way or another so it's tricky as a stylist do you throw out all your knowledge out the door just to give someone excalty what they want fast and quick despite anything that could happen and say well your blonde or do I stick to my ways and follow what I believe in and loose those clients who don't want my guidance.
Love your hair nerd so you don't know how many times people say the word Balayage wrong or simply don't know what it means. At the salon we have a lot of hair Talk lingo that only we know what it is about sometimes you hear us say "ohhh I used 8cb 8sm 8a with a little bit of 7cb 10 developer" my clients look at me like what language are you speaking 🤓🤓😂😂 some clients don't know the difference between highlights lowlights Balayage ombré Balayage highlights or Origami. All these are different so let me break it down. Highlights are a traditional dimension and depth that give lightness to your color. Lowlights is a dimensional design that gives depth and darkness to light hair. Balayage ombre is a hand painted design that gives lightness to your hair with dimension at the top of the hair and goes into a solid with little to no dimension of lightness towards the bottom Balayage Highlights is very dimensional hand painted design through out the hair with soft and blended highlights origami is is a design that allows a client to add more depth and darkness to a head full or partial blonde and still give a Balayage effect so next time your trying to decide on a design come here for notes be. Be the client that knows her stuff. "Snap" 🤓🤓. Love your hair nerd Questions like are you pregnant and what medications are you taking are little personal but did you know that it can be a factor to why your hair won't lift or take the color. Your hair skin and nails are so intuned with your body that it will will give you hints that something is going wrong! So listen to your body it's telling you something! So if you see changes look into it! Loss of hair thinning of hair dry skin breakouts. It could be as simple as stress or lack of water.

the salon I work at (The Vanity Lash Hair and waxing studio) we do a consultation before we do a chemical service. Why is it important? As a hairstylist i want to know first and foremost is what is in your hair. Is it virgin? Is the color professional or box? Is it damaged? Are you preggo sauce lol are you pregnant that's what nyds called me while I was pregnant? Are you taking medication and if so what is it for? How many times do you visit a salon? Do you prefer low maintenance? I know I know these questions are a little invasive next I want is your blood type....I'm joking but these questions are important. If your hair is virgin then it is more than likely the desired tone you want to achieve can be be achieved. Why is it important if the color is box or professional wellllllll it's verrry important box color is like a block of cement and your hair is like this beautiful crown of feathers and when you put box in your hair because it's either convinent or cheaper your putting a block of cement on your beautiful crown and it's the crown you wear everyday so make it beautiful take care of it because when you see a instagram or Pinterest inspiration and you want to go to the salon to show your stylist your inspired pic it may be a lot harder and more expensive all because you you used a box color dye. So how convinent and cheap was it! Stay tuned for part two to "why is important to do a consultation" thanks love your hair nerd |
